BUILT-IN OVEN
BUILT-IN OVEN REPAIR
At Ateliers G. Paquette, our team of technicians specialize in repairing built-in ovens, as well as many other household appliances. If your oven is acting up, you shouldn’t automatically assume it needs to be replaced. You should first go through the following list of common oven problems to see if you can find a solution.
-
One or more of the oven’s heating element isn't working : If this happens, the first thing you should do is check your circuit breaker or fuse box. If this doesn’t seem to be the source of the problem, there could be an issue with your oven’s control board, temperature sensor for heating elements. It’s also possible that some of the wires connected to the heating element may have burned or melted. In any case, it's best to make an appointment with one of our repair technicians.
-
The ovens displaying an error code : When an error code pops up, you should first check your user manual to decode its meaning and see if you can fix the issue yourself. However, if you can't find the error code in your manual, the problem may be more serious. If that’s the case, you should have one of our technicians fix the problem.
-
The timer doesn't work : If your timer has stopped working, start by checking the circuit breaker or fuse box to ensure the electrical current hasn’t been interrupted. If this isn’t the problem, make certain your oven isn’t set to the energy-saving or child lock mode. You can consult your user manual for instructions on how to deactivate these functions. It's also possible that your oven’s control board isn't working. Alternatively, some of the wires may have burned or melted and caused damage to the appliance’s internal components. If you think this may be the problem, call one of our repair technicians to get your appliance backup and running.
-
The oven door stays locked : If your oven door won’t open, you should first make sure it’s not in child lock mode. If that doesn't solve the problem, you may have accidentally interrupted a self-cleaning cycle. If this is the case, start a new cycle and then cancel it after five minutes. Alternatively, the control board, door lock or temperature sensor on your oven may be defective. Whatever the problem, one of our technicians can help.
-
The oven is noisy : It’s normal to hear a bit of noise as your oven preheats and the metal expands. However, loud banging sounds often indicate a bigger problem that should be dealt with by a professional.
Built-in ovens have a cooling fan that can run for up to 90 minutes after you finish cooking. We recommend leaving the oven door ajar for a few minutes to speed up the cooling time. If you notice a problem with your fan, you should schedule a visit with one of our technicians.
If you have a convection oven, the fan should stop as soon as you open the door. If the noise is still bothersome, your oven fan may be unbalanced or defective. If this is the case, you should contact us to schedule a service call.
-
The self-cleaning function isn't working properly : Before starting the self-cleaning cycle, you should remove any large chunks of burnt-on food or grease from inside the oven. Additionally, it’s a good idea to use a cream cleaner such as TORNADO (product number RA005C) to clean the glass on the oven door. For optimal results, the self-cleaning cycle should last at least three hours. Once it’s finished, use an odourless oven cleaner such as PRO-LINK® (product number KA005C) to clean around the edges of the oven door. Visit us In-store or online to purchase these products.
The oven door remains dirty after cleaning : Unfortunately, most common cleaning products aren't that effective at removing food residue. If you want sparkling clean stainless-steel appliances, polish them with a cream cleaner like STAINLESS POLISH (product number 903069) and then spray them with a product that has protective properties, such as PRO-LINK® (product number YA007C). This will close the pores in the metal and protect the surface from greasy fingerprints and acidic foods. Visit our Website to purchase these products.
