No matter what the problem, our expert technicians have the knowledge and parts to quickly repair your stove. We serve customers in Montreal and throughout Quebec.

HAVE YOU IDENTIFIED THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM?

By troubleshooting the issue, you may be able to figure out what’s wrong with your stove. Depending on the problem, you may even be able to make the necessary repairs yourself. If a major fix is required, however, you can count on our appliance repair service.

To begin, it’s a good idea to identify the source of the problem, and following the below troubleshooting guide can help you narrow down what the issue might be.

COMMON PROBLEMS WITH ELECTRIC STOVES

ONE OR MORE OF THE HEATING ELEMENTS ISN’T WORKING

The first thing you should do is check your circuit breaker or fuse box. If this doesn’t seem to be the source of the problem, there could be an issue with your stove’s control board, temperature sensor or heating elements. It’s also possible that some of the wires connected to the heating elements have burned or melted. In any case, it’s best to make an appointment with one of our repair technicians.

THE STOVE DISPLAYS AN ERROR CODE

If an error code pops up, you should first check your user manual to decode its meaning and see if you can fix the issue yourself. However, if you can't find the error code in your manual, the problem may be more serious. If this is the case, reach out to our technicians to fix the problem.

THE CERAMIC STOVETOP IS STAINED

You can remove watermarks and most types of stains with a cleaning cream such as Cook Top (product number BT201FE in a bottle or SMTCK in a set with a scraper and wipe), which is available in our stores and online. You can also use a scraper to remove burnt-on food residue.

However, note that salt and sugar can permanently stain ceramic stovetops, as well as aluminum, copper, cast iron and enamel bottomed pans. Consequently, it’s best to use stainless-steel pans whenever possible.

THE INDICATOR LIGHT STAYS ON

If the stove is turned off but the element light stays on, there’s a good chance the temperature sensor in your stove needs to be repaired. Contact one of our technicians immediately to get it fixed.

THE INDUCTION COOKTOP WON’T TURN ON

First, check your circuit breaker or fuse box. If everything looks fine, make sure you’re using induction-compatible cookware. In addition, if your cookware is in poor condition, the element may not turn on. If using another pan doesn’t solve the problem, you may have an issue with the control, power or temperature readout systems. If so, call a technician to come take a look.

THE INDUCTION COOKTOP IS NOISY

If you hear loud noises when trying to cook, first make sure you’re using induction-compatible cookware. Additionally, if the pot or pan you’re using is in poor condition, it may emit a shrill sound. If using another pan doesn’t work, the appliance’s control or power systems may require repair. Call us to book an appointment.

THE TIMER DOESN'T WORK

If your timer stops working, check the circuit breaker or fuse box to ensure the electrical current hasn’t been interrupted. If this isn’t the problem, make certain your oven isn’t set to energy-saving or child lock mode. It’s also possible that your oven’s control board isn’t working. Alternatively, some of the wires may have burned or melted and caused damage to the appliance’s internal components. If you think this may be the problem, call one of our repair technicians to get your appliance back up and running.

THE OVEN DOOR STAYS LOCKED

If your oven door won’t open, you should first make sure it’s not in child lock mode. If this doesn’t solve the problem, you may have accidentally interrupted a self-cleaning cycle. In this case you should start a new cycle and then cancel it after a few minutes. If the problem persists, our team can quickly repair any problems with your appliance’s control, locking or temperature reading systems.

THE OVEN IS NOISY

It’s normal to hear a bit of noise as your oven preheats or cools. However, persistently loud sounds are often an indication of a bigger problem with the cooling or convection fan system that should be dealt with by a professional.

It’s important to note that built-in ovens have a cooling fan that can run for up to 90 minutes after you finish cooking.

THE SELF-CLEANING MODE ISN’T WORKING

THE OVEN DOOR REMAINS DIRTY AFTER CLEANING

Unfortunately, most common cleaning products aren’t that effective at removing food residue, especially from stainless steel. It’s best to use a cream cleaner like STAINLESS POLISH (product number 903069) to remove stains from a stainless-steel appliance. You should also use a product with protective properties, such as PRO-LINK® (product number YA007C) to close the pores in the metal and protect the surface from greasy fingerprints and acidic foods. You can find these products in-store or online.

COMMON PROBLEMS WITH GAS STOVES

ONE OR MORE STOVETOP BURNERS WON’T LIGHT

If this happens, the first thing you should do is check your circuit breaker or fuse box. If everything seems fine, check to see if the propane tank is empty or your natural gas supplier is experiencing a service interruption. Additionally, make sure the burners are properly assembled and are clean and dry.

If you can’t find the root of the problem, you may need to get your gas atomization, ignition or burner monitoring system repaired. Alternatively, your gas pressure regulator may need to be serviced by a professional.

THE STOVETOP BURNER FLAME IS YELLOW

A yellow flame is often an indication that there isn’t enough oxygen getting into the system, leading to incomplete combustion. If not repaired, this could lead to carbon monoxide buildup in your home. In addition, you may also see a yellow flame if you’re using a pan that’s too big for the burner. If that’s not the problem, check that the burner components are properly assembled, clean and dry. Alternatively, your stove’s regulator pressure may be too low and require professional repair.

THE STOVETOP BURNER WON’T LIGHT

If your burner is completely unresponsive, first check your circuit breaker or fuse box. If everything seems fine, check to see if the propane tank is empty or your natural gas supplier is experiencing a service interruption. If none of these solutions works, the problem may be more serious and require a visit from one of our technicians.

THE STOVETOP BURNERS DON’T GET CLEAN

Unfortunately, most common cleaning products aren’t that effective at removing burnt-on food residue from stovetop burners. We recommend using TORNADO (product number RA005C) to deeply penetrate the pores of the burner grates and caps to make cleaning as easy as possible. You can purchase this product in-store or online.

THE OUTSIDE OF THE OVEN DOOR DOESN’T GET CLEAN

Unfortunately, most common cleaning products aren’t that effective at removing dirt and stubborn residue, especially from stainless-steel appliances. It’s best to use a cream cleaner like STAINLESS POLISH (product number 903069) to remove stains quickly and easily. You should then use a product with protective properties, such as PRO-LINK® (product number YA007C) to close the pores in the metal. You can purchase these products by visiting one of our stores or ordering online.
