It’s impossible to get the door clean. If you can’t get the outer side of your freezer door clean, it’s probably because you’re using a regular cleaning product to try and do the job. Household solutions aren’t very effective at removing food residue from metal appliance surfaces, especially stainless steel. In fact, food residue leaves behind tenacious stains that can only be completely removed by polishing the steel with a cleaning cream such as STAINLESS POLISH® (Product No. 903069).

The freezer smells bad. Food odours from the refrigerator can combine with the smells in your freezer to create a foul stench. To prevent this from occurring, clean the inside walls of your freezer every six months. Just note that while household cleaners such as Hertel® can be used to clean the walls, they should never be used to clean the freezer ventilation ducts.
In addition, Ateliers G. Paquette carries activated carbon filters for standard refrigerators. Activated carbon is much more effective at eliminating odour than traditional baking soda. There’s ice buildup in the freezer. First, check to see whether or not the door completely closes. If the door is at all ajar, it can cause a buildup of frost and ice. Also check the seals around the door to ensure they aren’t cracked. Freezers with ice and frost buildup need to be completely defrosted every three to six months.
All modern freezers have an automatic defrosting system with mechanical or electrical control, heating elements and a thermostat. These components can malfunction and hinder the freezer’s defrost cycle, resulting in a buildup of ice. When such malfunctions occur, a professional is needed to repair the appliance.
