REFRIGERATOR REPAIR

I CAN’T GET MY FRIDGE DOOR CLEAN!

Ordinary maintenance products like Windex® are not effective enough to remove food residue that may remain stuck on the outer metal walls of refrigerators. This is particularly the case for stainless steel appliances. Food residues leave marks on the stainless steel that must be removed by polishing with a cream cleanser such as STAINLESS POLISH (product number 903069). Once the stains and toxins have been removed from the stainless steel panel, a maintenance and protective product such as the -PRO LINK® (YA007C product number) must be sprayed on these surfaces to block the metal pores and protect against finger acids and fat from foods. To purchase these products, visit one of our stores or order them online.

THE AIR FILTER INDICATOR LAMP IS ON!

Modern refrigerators do not need the little box of Arm & Hammer baking soda we used put in there to absorb food odors like onions and strawberries. They now have active carbon filters that must be replaced every three to six months, unlike baking soda. When the replacement light comes on, it means the time is up on that filter. Each refrigerator has a specific type of filter. Come see us at one of our three branches with your model number to get a new one. The indicator lamp can be reset by holding down the reset button in most cases.

THE WATER FILTER INDICATOR LAMP IS ON!

Modern refrigerators almost all have water filters to absorb particles or toxins such as pesticides that are not removed by municipal water treatment plants. These activated carbon filters should be replaced every 3 months in order to not affect the flow of water from the water dispenser or ice production. A used filter will reduce the thickness of the ice cubes, which could jam the ice machine extractor or rake. When the filter replacement light is on, it means that the counter has determined that the useful life of your filter is used up and it needs to be replaced. Each refrigerator has a specific type of filter. Come see us at one of our three branches with your model number to get a new one. The indicator lamp can be reset by holding down the reset button in most cases.

I HAVE AN ERROR CODE!

The error codes that can be easily resolved are included in the user manual. For example, the code DO means "open door". Consult your user manual to find out what the codes mean.

If the error code displayed on your device is not in your user manual, it is probably related to a major issue involving the electronic controls in your refrigerator. In this case, a visit by one of our technicians is probably necessary.

THE ICE MACHINE STOPPED MAKING ICE!

Almost all modern refrigerators have a water filter. A used filter will reduce the thickness of the ice cubes, which could jam the ice machine extractor or rake. Each refrigerator has a specific type of filter. If the freezer temperature is too high, this will prevent the ice maker from making ice. The suggested temperature is 0 ° F (-18 ° C).

Ice machines have a drive motor, a thermostatic system and a mechanical system for heating and expulsion of ice. Any of these functions can need repairs. In this case, a visit by
one of our technicians is probably required. Call us right away.

THERE IS FROST IN THE FREEZER!

Check that the door closes properly. A door left ajar overnight will cause an abnormal accumulation of ice in the freezer.

Check that the door seals are not cracked.

Modern refrigerators are equipped with an automatic defrost system comprising a mechanical or electronic frost control as well as defrost heaters and thermostatic safety features. All these components can cause defrost malfunctions and lead to an abnormal build up of frost in the freezer. In this case, a visit by one of our technicians is probably necessary to repair your refrigerator.

THERE IS CONDENSATION OR MOISTURE IN MY FRIDGE!

Check that the door closes properly. A door left ajar overnight will cause the temperature in the fridge to rise.

Check the control settings of the unit. The freezer should be at 0 ° F (-18 ° C) and the refrigerator at 37 ° F (3 ° C).

Check that all components are working (compressor, compressor cooling fan, freezer evaporator fan, etc.).
Would you like one of our technicians to verify your appliance?

THERE IS CONDENSATION OR MOISTURE IN MY FRIDGE!

Check that the door closes properly. A door left ajar overnight will cause an abnormal accumulation of condensation on the walls and shelves of the appliance.

Check that the door seals are not cracked.

A home where the air is very hot and humid can cause condensation buildup on the shelves and walls if the door is left open for just a few minutes.

Refrigerators with the freezer temperature set too low (under 0 ° F or 18 ° C) or where the refrigerator temperature is too cold (under 37 ° F or 3 ° C) will promote the accumulation of condensation on shelves and walls if the door is left open for just a few minutes.
